The car audio design itself is a spear and a shield, and it needs to be weighed to make a relatively good solution. Most of the installation in the car door can only be regarded as a compromise solution such as cost. There are three main reasons why car audio speakers are installed on car doors.
1, volume problem
speakers need to be matched with a suitable cabinet to have a good effect, and the door is just the cabinet.
Of course this volume is a lot larger for most 6.5-inch speakers
2, speaker directivity problem
The frequency spectrum of the mid-woofer in the axial range is relatively good
The mid-bass is not very well placed near the bottom of the door
If in the driving position, the left horn monophonic is generally not as effective as the right horn.
If there is an independent midrange unit, the directivity will be much better (this is also related to the size of the speaker)
Like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the horn is in front of the bottom plate, abandoning the performance of mid-to-high frequency. The door has a mid-range speaker to supplement the mid-to-high frequency signal
This doesn’t have to be on the door. The A-pillar position and the instrument panel position are ok, but the midrange can be installed in the door position to make the sound field wide in the car.
3, sound field problem
The ideal sound in the car is to emit from the front of the instrument panel, with accurate phasing and sound field positioning
is like this: according to the binaural effect
Binaural effect is the effect of people relying on the volume difference, time difference and timbre difference between the two ears to determine the sound position. When the sound strength is different, you can feel the distance between the sound source and the listener.
To put it simply, the volume problem can be adjusted by balancing left and right (this is not accurate, and the left and right attenuation of the middle and high frequencies are inconsistent) if there is no processor in the car, because of the driving position problem, the time difference between the left and right speakers must exist. The solution of the original car The solution is to place the mid- and high-pitched sound as far away as possible from the left and not to the left and right width. The right side is as close as possible to the left position but not too far away from the right-channel mid-high. If there is no mid-high, then the mid-bass unit is as far away as possible. It may be far away. If it is on the door, the lower left corner is the farthest from the listening position.
